Z zupełnie innego rejestru pochodzi obraz Adama Adacha Westerplatte-Proud (2008). Jest to portret sławnego bohatera i dowódcy z Westerplatte mjr. Henryka Sucharskiego wykonany w gejowskich kolorach tęczy. Obraz jest reakcją wobec kontrowersji, jakie wybuchły w związku ze spekulacjami o rzekomo odmiennej orientacji seksualnej wojskowego. Malarz przedstawiając w ten sposób Sucharskiego, wydobywa w ten sposób historyczną postać spod władzy i osądów homofobicznych narodowców, którzy chcieliby narzucić społeczeństwu swoją wersję przeszłości i uważają, że homoseksualizm deprecjonuje mit bohatera i status człowieka. Oczywiście dzieło to jest fantazją historyczną i polityczną artysty – orientacja seksualna majora jest bowiem jedynie tematem artystycznych i historycznych spekulacji. Malarz stawia jednak kropkę nad „i”, uznając, że w takim modelu bohatera nie ma nic złego. Możemy to nazwać „odmienianiem” historii.

Adam Adach’s painting Westerplatte-Proud(2008) represents a very different register. It is a portrait of the famous war hero, commander of the Westerplatte post Major Henryk Sucharski rendered in the colours of the gay rainbow. The work responds to the controversy around the military man’s alleged homosexuality. In his depiction of Sucharski, Adach removes the historical figure from the realm and the judgment of homophobic nationalists who want to impose their version of the past and believe that homosexuality depreciates the myth of a hero and the status of a man. Naturally, the work is the artist’s historical and political fantasy because the Major’s sexual orientation is merely a matter of speculation. But Adach dots the “i” by stating that this model of a hero is good. He queers history.
