Art Pride - English info

As the title ART PRIDE has it, this album takes the affirmative emancipatory perspective: too gay is good. Gay aesthetics is one of many equally important styles and narrations of Postmodern culture and democratic society. More than that, depending on the social and political context, it often unlocks the avant-garde revolutionary potential of art. In the Polish context, where homophobia is part of official politics and society is strongly heteronormative, gay culture has a subversive potential. This is why it is important to write about the aesthetics and politics of gay art in Poland.

The album ART PRIDE. Gay Art from Poland, prepared by Paweł Leszkowicz, is a bilingual selection by the Author presenting Polish gay art from 1970s to 2010. Over 150 pictures, 40 artists and an in-depth commentary by Leszkowicz make this album a landmark publication.
