Odsłaniając różne historie i aspekty tematyki homoseksualnej w polskiej sztuce współczesnej, posłużę się metodą trzech odsłon i rozpinania. Będą to akty uwalniania treści oraz materiałów wciśniętych i ukrytych pod różnego rodzaju kodami, konwencjami i celową niepamięcią. Metafora rozpinania rozporka i uwalniania erekcji jest trafiona, gdyż - zgodnie z psychoanalitycznym założeniem o libidalnej naturze kreatywności i sztuki - stanowi to uwalnianie zamkniętej, tłumionej męskiej (homo)seksualności i jej artystycznej ekspresji.

Trzy Gracje (2006) to dzieło Tomka Kawszyna, które posłużyło jako swoisty model kompozycji i symboliki tego tekstu. Za kobiecym i mitologicznym tytułem kryje się maskulinistyczna i fetyszystyczna realizacja o porażającym erotycznym działaniu. Trzy Gracje to trzy tekstylne obiekty o korporacyjnej aurze umieszczone obok siebie. Są to męskie, czarne i eleganckie spodnie od garnituru, ucięte na wysokości ud i, niczym reliefy, zawieszone na ścianie. Spodnie są wypchane i ciasno opięte na męskich biodrach. Uwypuklenie ciała odznacza się najbardziej na wysokości rozporka. Wyraźnie odznaczają się masywne odciski sugerujące i obiecujące erekcję lub duże genitalia. Efekt ten nasila się, gdy oglądamy rzeźbę z profilu i zbliżamy do niej twarz.

Pierwszy rozporek Trzech Gracji właśnie rozpięliśmy, jest on związany z teorią i założeniami ART PRIDE. Drugi zaczniemy otwierać za chwilę, aby zajrzeć do przeszłości. Za trzecim kryje się najbardziej obfita i eksplodująca współczesność.

In uncovering different histories and aspects of homosexual themes in Polish contemporary art, I will use the method of three unveilings and an unzipping, the acts of releasing content and material tucked away and hidden in codes, conventions and purposeful forgetting. The metaphor of unzipping and releasing an erection is very much to the point: according to the psychoanalytical assumption of the libidinal nature of creativity and art, it represents the release of closed and oppressed male (homo)sexuality and its artistic expression.

The composition and the symbolism of this essay calls on Tomasz Kawszyn’s Trzy Gracje (Three Graces, 2006) as a model. The work with this feminine, mythological title is masculine and fetishistic with a powerful erotic charge. The three graces are three textile objects with a corporeal aura placed one next to another: elegant black men’s suit pants with legs cut off at thighs, hanged on the wall like reliefs. The pants are stuffed and they cling tightly to the male waist, each pair with a prominent bulge under the zipper: massive shapes which suggest and promise an erection or large-sized genitals. The effect is augmented when the sculpture is regarded in profile and at a close distance.

We have just unzipped one of the three graces: the theory and assumptions of ART PRIDE. We will soon unzip the second grace to look back into the past. The third zipper conceals the most abundant and explosive contemporary art.
